Chicago Bears Draft Grade for CB Kyler Gordon

Kyler Gordon won me over by making somebody’s “Athletic Freaks” list, and from that moment on, if I didn’t draft Kyler Gordon it was a coin toss:

  1. He was gone before 39
  2. I felt like I was throwing myself on my sword because we needed draft capital so badly.

My favorite drafts were ones where I traded down and still got Kyler Gordon…no offense meant when ever I did that, Mr Gordon! And I’m gonna go back to talking about you, but Welcome to Bears Nation!

From his dedication to dance to his body control on the football field, Kyler Gordon is obviously a man who knew at an early age that God had gifted him with an athletic physique and a rare ability to control his body. And to me, at least, it is obvious that Kyler Gordon knew that when you have a gift from God, the best way to thank God for that gift is by putting it to the best use you possibly can.

That, all by itself, makes Kyler Gordon an A+ Draft grade, in my book, but, there’s more. The situation Gordon was drafted into is a perfect one: a team building the way Chicago is. He will be a key cornerstone in this Bears Defense for years to come, and will begin with a flash this very year, aided by a team with a plan to be simple and relentless.

On film, the man appears to be simply relentless in every clip I see of him, and he has the body control and hands to make spectacular catches, and spectacular, not to mention penalty free, PBUs. He is a perfect fit for the style of defense Chicago is installing.

In a town that values defense, Kyler Gordon has no ceiling on the Monster-Meter (Patent not worth pending…but if ya steal it, buy me a drink at least!-)

Bear Down and Pass the Halas Hall Kool Aid!

Author: Kenneth Zook
Short version: I am too cerebral for the average football fan, so, like Dennis Miller on MNF, only not famous for SNL, or anything else. TL/NGR: I worked in Elk Grove Village in 1984, and listened to the entire 1985 season on AFRTS from my apartment near Naples (Bella Napoli) Italy. For many of the years since, I have been an unwilling fan, even tried to quit, but once you've had Halas Hall KoolAid, no other flavor can taste right. However, Halas Hall KoolAid is the name of this blog, because I like the sound of it better than "Laundry Loving, Homer, Fan Boy" which is what a lot of traditional Bears fans call me. The fact is, I am an optimist, but the "snake-bit" history of this club makes me want to be careful with my expectations. In a year like this, that takes on a whole new meaning. As an optimist, I can't possibly join the "this year is gonna suck" club, so my writing this year will often be about setting expectations, by which I have a realistic chance to be satisfied.
